Public health and food industry experts are calling on the government to urgently fund a new National Nutrition Survey to better understand New Zealanders eating habits and to help shape public policy.

Cliona Ni Mhurchu,  a professor of population nutrition at the University of Auckland, told RNZ's Midday Report on 19 February that the survey would be a small but vital investment compared to the huge costs related to diet-related diseases.

Prof Ni Mhurchu was also interviewed by Newstalk ZB and Mediaworks.
